“My love for fashion and anything Tailor made” – here is the story of my collaboration with designer Nidia Harris….

Japanese modernism with a whimsical touch is our cue for Tailors dress this year. The garment reflects her strength and vulnerability which is a common thread on this album.  Designing for a client whose work you adore automatically puts you in tune with them.  Tailor has been very involved in this process, as she is aware of her brand needing to stay on point.

About the designer Nidia Harris:

After attaining her Degree in Fashion Design and Technology from Wits, Nidia received several awards and nominations and began designing for Foxy.  She designed for several companies before starting her own. She was featured in our First ever South African Fashion Week under her then label “Cheeze.”

Gasp Couture has a ready to wear collection found in several boutiques in and around Johannesburg. She is also the ‘In house Designer’ at House of Superior Clothing in Pretoria. Bespoke designs can be ordered directly from her studio. Recent projects include dressing a Bridal party for the popular series ‘Getroud met Rugby’ and dressing Tailor for her concert.

Frock Royalty is the second label that Nidia owns. What started off as a hobby and creative outlet developed into its own independent label.  This is where you will find fantasy items filled with fun. Whether you need a tentacle body stocking for Octopia Festival or a galactic leotard for Afrika Burn this label will deliver.

In a nutshell Nidia is most at home combining Haut couture with a theatrical flavor.  Comfortably switching from Chantelle lace to PVC.

Due to her diversity clients have often referred to her as “South Africas best kept Designer secret.”

Tailor’s latest album TRUST PT.1 has been nominated for “Best Alternative Album” at this year’s SAMA’s. 

The Samas ceremony will be held in Sun City resort 27 May and will be broadcast live on SABC1.
